Why Accurate Measuring Matters

Plantation shutters are made to measure, so even small errors in width or height can affect how well they open, close and sit within your window recess. A professional measure removes the guesswork and ensures a precise, gap-free fit.

Step 1: Measure the Width

Measure the width of your window recess at the top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest of the three measurements, as window openings are rarely perfectly square.

Step 2: Measure the Drop (Height)

Measure the height of the recess on the left, middle and right sides, from the top of the opening to the sill. Again, use the smallest measurement to ensure a comfortable fit.

Step 3: Check for Obstructions

• Window handles or locks that may interfere with shutter panels

• Deep sills or window boards that affect depth

• Curtain poles, radiators or blinds already fitted nearby
