How Much Do Plantation Shutters Cost in Leeds? What Affects the Price
It is the first question almost everyone asks us, and it is a fair one. The honest answer is that plantation shutters are made to measure, so there is no price list in the way there is for a ready-made blind. But that does not mean we cannot explain what drives the cost, so you know what to expect before you book a survey.
What actually sets the price
Four things make the biggest difference to the cost of shutters in a Leeds home.
Window size. Shutters are priced by area, so a big bay or a set of patio doors costs more than a small bedroom window.
Material. Solid hardwood sits at the top, with engineered and composite options offering a similar look for less. Waterproof shutters for bathrooms and kitchens are priced separately.
Finish and colour. Standard whites and off-whites are the most affordable and the quickest to make. Custom colours, stains and painted-to-match finishes cost more and take longer.
Style and extras. Full-height, cafe-style, tier-on-tier and solid panels all price differently, and options like hidden tilt rods or shaped panels for arched windows add to it.
Why we do not quote over the phone
We could give you a rough figure per square metre, but in our experience it is nearly always wrong for a real window. Reveals are rarely square, sills vary, and the style you end up choosing after seeing samples is often not the one you had in mind. A guessed price that turns out to be low just causes disappointment later.
Instead, we come to you. Our survey is free, takes under an hour, and you get a written quote on the day. That quote is the actual price for your windows, not an estimate.
How the cost compares with blinds
Shutters are a bigger upfront investment than most blinds, there is no getting around that. What you are paying for is a fitted, permanent feature that lasts decades, needs no replacing, and adds value to the house. Many of our customers in Harrogate, Ilkley and Guiseley see them as a home improvement rather than a window covering, in the same bracket as a new kitchen worktop or flooring.
Lead times and the express option
Standard ranges are typically fitted around three to four weeks after your survey. Wider colour ranges and special finishes take around seven to eight weeks. If you are up against a deadline, say a house move or a family event, we have a limited express range that can be surveyed and fitted within 14 days.
